Design and planning changes for the tunnels and stations

The Metro Tunnel Project Tunnels and Stations contractor (Cross Yarra Partnership) has refined the design and construction approach for the tunnels and stations.

These changes will improve accessibility, reduce construction impacts and provide better outcomes for the delivery and operation of the Metro Tunnel.

To facilitate the design changes, a Planning Scheme Amendment (PSA) is required. Changes are also required to the Design and Development Overlay (DDO) to incorporate the design refinements to protect the tunnels and stations from future nearby developments.

A draft PSA, including the DDO maps, is available to view from Monday 19 March to Tuesday 17 April 2018. You can provide your feedback on the draft PSA via an online feedback form.

Any person may make a submission on the draft PSA. At the conclusion of the public display period, we will consider the issues raised and all feedback will be provided to the Minister for Planning to form part of his consideration of the draft PSA.

We intend to request that the Minister for Planning prepare, adopt and approve a PSA to facilitate the design changes, including exempting the amendment from public exhibition under Section 20(4) of the Planning and Environment Act 1987.
