Metro Tunnel

Benefits for your train line

Melbourne is growing and so is demand for reliable public transport. The Metro Tunnel will create space on the rail network for more trains, more often.

Construction is underway on the Metro Tunnel, Victoria's biggest ever public transport project. It will increase the number of trains we can run across Melbourne, and means less crowding and less waiting.

By taking three of the busiest train lines through a new tunnel under the city, it will free up space in the City Loop to run more trains in and out of the city. That means more trains, more often, with a less crowded and more reliable train network.
