Tram works on Park Street

New tram infrastructure in Park Street, South Melbourne will keep Melburnians moving during construction of the Metro Tunnel Project.

The new Park Street tram stop will be located to the west of Wells Street and Palmerston Crescent, replacing the existing stop 119 which is currently located at the intersection of Kings Way and Park Street. Tram works will occur between 8 January and 17 February 2018.

The stop will safely cater for the increasing number of passengers on the route 58 tram and will provide improved access to the tram network during and following completion of the Metro Tunnel Project.

The new tram stop requires the removal of 26 on-street parking spaces to maintain one lane of traffic in each direction. It will also involve changes to the intersection of Wells Street and Palmerston Crescent to allow for safe vehicle turning movements and tram operations.

From 2 - 7 February, buses will replace route 58 tram services between Casino (stop 115) and Fawkner Park (stop 123) tram stops. For public transport travel advice, visit the Public Transport Victoria website or call 1800 800 007 (6am to midnight daily, or all night Friday and Saturday).
