Call for First Nations artists to create public artwork
Posted: 06 Sep 2021
We have extended the deadline for Victorian First Nations artists to submit expressions of interest to develop a permanent sculptural artwork for the Metro Tunnel.
The Metro Tunnel will transform our public transport network and we are commissioning several permanent artworks along the route.
As Australia's cultural capital where the creative industries play an integral role in the Victorian economy and way of living, we are taking the opportunity to include world-class art as part of this iconic project.
The opportunity is for a sculptural artwork, or series of sculptural elements, at the reinstated Siding Reserve next to the Metro Tunnel's eastern entrance in South Yarra.
Victorian Traditional Owners, or other First Nations artists who live and work in Victoria, are encouraged to apply.
For more information and to submit an expression of interest, visit the Rail Projects Victoria website.
