Renowned artist to paint City Square shed roof
Posted: 07 Jul 2019
Renowned international artist, Pat Perry, has been engaged to design and install a creative treatment for the roof of the acoustic shed at our City Square construction site. Another artist will be engaged to design a creative treatment for the Swanston Street facing side of the shed with more details available later this year.
Pat Perry is a highly regarded international artist based in Detroit and known for his large-scale creative works, predominantly on buildings. His paintings have been described as vivid, abstract and intriguing. He has been commissioned to paint murals around the world in countries such as Finland, Iraq, New Zealand and the USA. This will be the first time he has painted a large-scale project like this in Melbourne.
Local artists will be commissioned to assist Pat with painting his design on the shed.
City Square shed
Acoustic sheds are commonly used during construction to minimise the impacts of noise, light and dust on the local community during tunnelling activities. The shed at City Square will be approximately 20 metres high, 90 metres wide and 30 metres long. Construction of the shed is underway and due to finish later this year.
