Metro Tunnel

Slowing the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19)

Posted: 09 Jul 2020

The health and safety of our workers and the community is our key priority as we continue to deliver the Metro Tunnel Project, as is supporting physical distancing measures in line with current health advice.

We have strict protocols in place to protect the safety of our construction workforce, including enhanced industrial cleaning arrangements, provision of personal protective equipment and measures to reduce staff contact, including staggered shifts.

If you live in metropolitan Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire you must stay at home. You can only leave home for one of the four reasons – shopping for food and supplies, care and caregiving, exercise, and study and work, if you can’t do it from home.

For those who need to travel, there may be some disruptions that will affect your journey.

Extra cleaning is being carried out on all bus replacement services to keep passengers and staff safe. All services, stops and stations are being disinfected and sanitised every day. Commuters are being asked to practice good hygiene while using public transport. Wash your hands with soap and water before and after you travel. Sneeze or cough into a tissue or the inside of your elbow. If you are unwell, stat at home.

Passengers are being reminded to keep their distance where they can and try travelling outside peak times when less people are using the network. When using escalators, try to stand four steps away from the person in front and avoid walking up or down.
