TBM Meg relaunches towards State Library Station

Posted: 12 Nov 2020

Tunnel boring machine 'Meg' is transferred across the Parkville station box.

Tunnel boring machine (TBM) Meg has relaunched from the Metro Tunnel's Parkville Station site towards the CBD.

It follows the relaunch of TBM Joan, which began a parallel one-kilometre journey towards the State Library Station site last month.

The two TBMs have already completed the western section of the project's twin nine-kilometre tunnels, starting at the western entrance in Kensington, through the Arden Station site in North Melbourne and on to Parkville.

After they arrive at the State Library, TBMs Meg and Joan will continue digging in parrallel under Swanston Street towards the new Town Hall Station.

You can watch the progress of all four TBMs with our TBM tracking tool.
