Trams running again on St Kilda Road
Tram track realignment works along St Kilda Road have wrapped up, with the first tram running on the newly laid tracks on Wednesday morning.
The works were necessary to ensure trams and traffic can continue using this section of St Kilda Road during the extended construction phase while Anzac Station is being built.
During the April construction blitz, crews works 24/7 for 17 days. Around 2,000 cubic metres of concrete and asphalt were demolished and 1,300 cubic metres of fresh concrete was poured and 3,300 tonne of new asphalt was laid.
Crews laid 1,200 metres of new tram tracks over the occupation, which will give eight tram routes more off-peak journeys every week.
