Ongoing

Flinders Quarter

There will be oversized deliveries to the Flinders Quarter site via the Swanston Street driveway.

These works will occur:

  • 5am to 7am, Monday to Saturday
  • 6pm to 10pm, Monday to Friday, ongoing throughout 2020

Due to road permit requirements on occasion large plant will be delivered and demobilised from site between 12am and 6am.

These deliveries require the use of a semi-trailer and a tower crane and are expected to generate low to medium levels of noise.

Ongoing

City Square, Federation Square and Flinders Quarter

Tunnelling and shaft excavation works are continuing 24 hours a day at the City Square, Federation Square and Flinders Quarter sites. Tunnelling will involve excavating using an excavator and roadheader, rock bolting and shotcreting.

These works will occur:

  • 24 hours, Monday to Sunday, ongoing.

These works are expected to generate low to medium levels of noise and vibration.

Where possible, effort will be made to keep vibration and noise to a minimum from 10pm to 7am to minimise disruption to surrounding properties.

Flinders Quarter site

Steel fixing, waterproofing and formwork installation works require the use of hand tools, power tools, a telehandler and a tower crane.

These works will occur:

  • 7am to 10pm, Monday to Friday
  • 7am to 1pm, Saturdays and
  • 8am to 4pm, Sundays, ongoing throughout August 2020.

These works are expected to generate low to medium levels of noise.

Concrete pours for the permanent concrete structure installation must be continuous to ensure structural integrity and therefore may occasionally continue until 10pm on weeknights.

These works will occur:

  • 7am to 10pm, Monday to Friday and
  • 7am to 1pm, Saturdays, ongoing throughout 2020
  • 6pm to 7am, Monday to Friday, intermittently throughout 2020.

Concrete finishing equipment may also be used between 6pm and 7am on weeknights as required.

These works are expected to generate medium levels of noise and vibration.

Pile break back and capping beam works will continue in August. Piles will be ‘broken back’ using a jackhammer and an excavator. A capping beam will then be installed to prevent the piles from moving.

These works will occur:

  • 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday
  • 7am to 1pm Saturdays.

These works are expected to generate medium to high levels of noise.

Flinders Quarter

Excavation works will occur at the Flinders Quarter site. These works involve the use of an excavator with a hammer attachment and trucks to remove excavated material from the site.

These works will occur:

  • 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday
  • 7am to 1pm, Saturdays.

These works are expected to generate medium to high levels of noise and vibration.

Ongoing until September 2020

Flinders Street

Excavation and strutting works will occur at the Flinders Street site. Strutting involves the installation of steel supports inside the shaft to provide a structural frame during excavation works.

These works will occur:

  • 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday
  • 7am to 1pm, Saturdays, ongoing until September 2020.

These works are expected to generate medium levels of noise and vibration.
