Construction on the Mernda line

Buses will replace trains on sections of the Mernda line from Tuesday 3 to Sunday 15 December. During this period, please allow extra journey time. Visit the Public Transport Victoria website for travel details.

Before High Capacity Signalling is rolled out on the Cranbourne, Pakenham and Sunbury lines and in the Metro Tunnel, the new technology will be put through months of on-site testing and validation.

That testing site is on a 4.5km length of track on the Mernda line between Epping and South Morang stations. Specially equipped trains are scheduled to be on track for testing in the second half of 2020.
