Construction on the Sunbury line

Work is now underway to support construction of a new platform at West Footscray station.

We are also undertaking site and service investigations along the Sunbury line to help inform detailed planning and design.

What's happening

28 March- May 2019

Rail corridor between Tottenham and West Footscray station

Works are required in the rail corridor between Tottenham and West Footscray station to remove and realign rail freight tracks, reinstate ground beneath removed tracks, and install drainage.

These works will occur:

  • 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday (from 28 March).
  • 7am to 1pm, Saturdays (from 28 March).

These works are expected to generate medium levels of noise, and occasional periods of medium level vibration.

West Footscray Station

Various site establishment works will be occurring throughout 2019 at West Footscray station to build a new passenger platform and an additional track.

Up to 40 parking spaces at West Footscray station will be occupied from early 2019 for laydown of construction materials and a crane for delivery of materials into the works zone.

From early March temporary fencing and wooden hoarding will be installed around the perimeter of the car park on Cross Street and a project site compound will be established.

Widening an existing driveway and establishing a new driveway on Cross Street, as well as restricting access to cyclist and pedestrian ramps around the station.

From mid-April construction machinery will be delivered to the site across from Cross Street.
