Building the massive 9km twin rail tunnels and five new underground stations will cause some unavoidable transport disruptions.

Mernda

Buses replace trains at times on part of the Mernda line from Sunday 11 October to Friday 30 October 2020. More details about works on the Mernda line.

1 November to 18 December Mernda

Buses replace trains on parts of the Mernda line from Sunday 1 November to Friday 18 December 2020. More for details about works on the Mernda line.

6 to 9 November

Werribee and Williamstown

Buses replace trains overnight on parts of the Werribee and Williamstown lines from 8:30pm.

14 to 15 November

Werribee and Williamstown

Buses replace trains each morning on parts of the Werribee and Williamstown lines between 1:30am and 4:30am

7 to 21 November

Bendigo

Coaches replace trains between Southern Cross and Bendigo.

7 to 15 November

Geelong

Buses replace trains on the Geelong Line between Southern Cross and Sunshine on weekends only.

For Warrnambool customers, coaches replace trains between Southern Cross and Geelong.

7 to 15 November

Ballarat

Buses replace trains on the Ballarat, Ararat and Maryborough lines between Southern Cross and Sunshine on weekends only.

Oversized TBM parts will be delivered to the Anzac Station site and will require overnight closures on St Kilda Road. All deliveries will take place between 1am – 5am over approximately 15 nights.

5 November to late December

Elizabeth Street/Royal Parade

From Thursday 5 November until late December, the Elizabeth Street/Royal Parade northbound service lane, between Haymarket Roundabout and to just north of the Royal Melbourne Hospital is closed until late 2020. Access to hospitals, hospital car park, and ambulances will be maintained at all times.

5 November

Toorak Road and William Street

Overnight delivery to South Yarra Siding Reserve via Toorak Road and William Street between 2am and 5am on Thursday 5 November.

Parking on Toorak Road and William Street will be unavailable from 6pm on Wednesday 4 November and will be reinstated by 9am on Thursday 5 November.

Arthur Street

Temporary partial closure of Arthur Street for drainage installation. These works will require the partial closure of Arthur Street between Chapel Street and 50 Arthur Street from Thursday 5 November until Friday 5 December.

Peppercorn Lawn will be occupied for ground improvement works associated with Metro Tunnel construction until March 2021.

La Trobe Street

The eastbound lane on La Trobe Street is temporarily closed during construction hours between Elizabeth and Swanston streets.

La Trobe Street eastbound lane speed limit reduction to 30kph.

The dedicated eastbound bicycle lane and northern footpath on La Trobe Street adjacent to the Metro Tunnel construction site is closed.

Franklin Street

Franklin Street West between Elizabeth and Swanston streets is open to two-way traffic but reduces to one lane width when approaching Swanston Street. Consider blind spot when approaching Swanston Street.

Franklin Street East to remain closed until 2022.

Closed to road users between Swanston and Stewart streets. Pedestrian access maintained.

Flinders Street

The left-hand turn for traffic travelling northbound on St Kilda Road into Flinders Street is closed.

The Flinders Street pedestrian crossing between St Paul’s Cathedral and Federation Square temporarily closed from 3 June 2020 for up to 20 months.
