Current and planned transport changes

Building the massive 9km twin rail tunnels and five new underground stations will cause some unavoidable transport disruptions.

Grattan Street – road and long-term lane closures

Closed between Flemington Road and Elizabeth Street/Royal Parade from 14 February, for up to five weeks.

Eastbound lanes will open between Flemington road and Elizabeth Street/Royal Parade from late-March.

Westbound lanes to remain closed, between Flemington Road and Elizabeth Street/Royal Parade for three years.

St Kilda Road - Intermittent closures

Overnight closures for the delivery of tunnel boring machine parts to the Anzac Station site.

Between 1am and 5am on 17 and 18 February, St Kilda Road will be closed in both directions:

  • Southbound from Dorcas Street to Toorak Road West
  • Northbound from Albert Road North to Park Street

St Kilda Road traffic will be diverted to Kings Way. Tram services will be unaffected and local access to residential apartments will be maintained.

Mernda line – night time closures

Buses will replace trains between Epping and Mernda stations from approx. 8:30pm to last train each night, Monday to Thursday:

  • Monday 9 March to Thursday 12 March
  • Monday 30 March to Thursday 2 April
  • Monday 13 April to Thursday 16 April
  • Monday 20 April to Thursday 23 April
