Long-term closure - until September 2021

Childers Street is currently closed to all traffic until mid-September 2021, with a detour along Derby and Tennyson streets for over-height vehicles making deliveries to the Lloyd Street Business Estate (LSBE) and a small number of Childers Street residents.

Access to businesses and residential buildings will be maintained at all times, and traffic management will be in place as needed to safely guide motorists, pedestrians and cyclists around work areas.

There may be short-term closures and traffic management arrangements required beyond mid-September 2021 until the project’s completion in 2025.

Motorists

Childers Street is currently closed to all traffic until mid-September 2021, with a detour along Derby and Tennyson streets for over-height vehicles making deliveries to the Lloyd Street Business Estate (LSBE) and a small number of Childers Street residents.

During this closure there will be reduced speed limits, school crossing supervision and traffic controllers along the detour to ensure the safety of pedestrians, residents, cyclists and other road users.

A temporary car park has been established at the corner of Hobsons and Kensington Roads to replace the parking removed from Childers Street. Please note this car park will be closed at the beginning of 2021 to facilitate construction of new rail infrastructure (date of closure to be confirmed). Information on alternative parking will be provided.
