La Trobe Street, Melbourne CBD

Lane closures – From May 2019

The eastbound lanes on La Trobe Street will be reduced to one between Elizabeth and Swanston Street for vehicles for up to three years, with the northern footpath closed for pedestrians during this time. The eastbound cycle lane will be closed between Elizabeth Street and Swanston Street, reopening late-2019.

Access to businesses and residential buildings will be maintained at all times, and traffic management will be in place to safely guide motorists, pedestrians and cyclists around work areas.

During the closures, underground service relocation works will take place to construct the underground pedestrian connection between Melbourne Central Station and the future State Library Station.

One lane on La Trobe Street eastbound will be closed to motorists from 19 August for up to three years.

Pedestrians can access the La Trobe Street tram stop via Swanston Street, and Melbourne Central via the underground passageway (by lifts or stairs).
