Short-term lane closure – from 8 November 2019

The Elizabeth Street/Royal Parade northbound service lane will be closed. Access to Grattan Street will be available on weekdays.

Additional closures will be in place on weekends with access to Grattan Street available via Flemington Road.

Access to hospitals, including for emergency services and businesses, will be maintained at all times during works.

There will be lane closures in place on Elizabeth Street, Peel Street and Haymarket Roundabout to assist with safe merging during these works.

Access to the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre loading bays will be maintained at all times.


Cyclists will be diverted into the Royal Parade northbound centre lane at the Grattan Street intersection

  • On weekdays, westbound cyclist access into Grattan Street will be via the Elizabeth Street northbound service lane
  • On weekends, eastbound cyclist access on Grattan Street will be maintained and westbound cyclist access to Grattan Street will be via Flemington Road.


Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times, with some diversions in place on weekends only.


There will be no changes to Yarra Trams services during the works.


During these works, the route 505 bus will not service the Royal Melbourne Hospital/Royal Parade stop.

Passengers are advised to use the bus stop at Morrah Street/Royal Parade, located 250 metres north on Royal Parade.

There will be no changes to the 401, 402, 403, 501 and 546 bus services.
